On Your Mark

This is the official start. It’s day #1. In all reality, it is just one day in a process that has been thought about, read about, prayed about, and talked about for years. Still, it is a BIG day.

Yesterday, I was the physician for more than 2,000 people. Today, it’s officially only about 20 although plenty more promised to come.

Change is a risk.

Failure is possible.

Yet… what I do know is that I believe in the Direct Primary Care (DPC) structure for providing healthcare. Mostly, I believe in restoring trust in healthcare. But this means taking the lead and myself stepping out and trusting that some patients out there will believe it, too.

Moreover, I believe in the value of access to your doctor when you are sick. I believe patients can be healthier with proactive care and time for meaningful education. And, I believe that somewhere in this crazy world of healthcare, God has a plan for me. For now, this is it.

Faith tells me that patients will come. A new routine will be found. Lessons will be learned (sure, some coming the hard way). I have peace about my decision and huge hope for the future!

Today is a BIG day.
